"Mrs. Cass, we were hoping your son could answer a few questions about the girl who disappeared last night..."

Erika Cass has a perfect family and a perfect life. Until the evening when two detectives show up at her front door.

A high school girl has vanished from Erika's quiet suburban neighborhood. The police suspect the worst--murder. And Erika's teenage son, Liam, was the last person to see the girl alive.

Erika has always sensed something dark and disturbed in her seemingly perfect older child. She wants to believe he's innocent, but as the evidence mounts, she can't deny the truth--Liam may have done the unthinkable.

Now she must ask herself:

How far will she go to protect her son? - Goodreads

Review:

Characters and Plot

After all that fantasy reads, I need a break, and I figure the Perfect Son by Freida McFadden will be a great choice, giving that it's a thriller.

I immensely enjoy this book, it was easy to read, fast paced with short chapters, perfect for my reading slump. The twist at the end was definitely shocking to me, I genuinely had to say I didn't see that coming... like at all. Though I do see a lot of people said it was predictable, maybe it's because I haven't read a lot of thrillers yet.

I did love how the author misled us into suspecting the wrong person, and the prologue really make you second guess everything. The epilogue was creepy, that I had to say. Liam definitely had some symptoms of being a sociopath, a lot of his actions weren't fit towards a teenage boy. However, I do feel that his mom exaggerate and over react a lot of his moment, it was really funny seeing her freaking out when Liam kill an ant and said how that is a sign of a killer... like mam... everyone kill ants. Honestly... she would pass out seeing me being able to kill a mosquito with glee.

I really like how the book highlights a mother love in a toxic way, how in real life, there will be parents that bail their child out of jail even though they had evidently did something wrong. Also telling me the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath, that really help.

Conclusion

I probably will be checking out more Freida McFadden work after this, it was such a fun read. If you are in a reading slump, I highly recommend this book, it is quick pace, easy to read, and grip you the whole way.
