I’ve already mentally prepared myself to kill the screaming, murderous monster in the cage outside our camp.

I realise that I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to kill him, even for his own sake, but it doesn’t matter anyway. He’s already dying, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. Not even when new visitors at our raider camp bring with them secrets about Seraph. Secrets the military has tried to hide.
Secrets that reveal the true extent of the horror he’s been put through.
And now… Now, I will kill anyone who tries to hurt him again.

​​​Characters and Plot
This is probably my least favorite book in the Monstrous series, and no, it wasn't bad. I still really enjoy it, I just think it was a bit slower and repetitive in scenes compared to the other books.

Seraph had to be the most tortured soul in this series; his past utterly shocks and disgusts me. I felt so bad for him. The fact that he was heavily tortured for probably months or years. I had already loved Lilac in the previous books, and I really like the fact that we got his own book. He kind of reminds me of Wyn if Wyn were a human, protective, a bit grumpy, and wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone who harms their loved ones.

The relationship between Lilac and Seraph was really sweet. Seraph taking a while to open up to Lilac, and trying to learn English to talk to Lilac, was the cutest thing. Lilac being patient and overprotective, just amazing. Probably my favorite thing about this book was that we got all the monsters together, Wyn is back, and I LOVE WYN SO MUCH. Such a grump :)) They are kind of giving found family, I hope we get to see the whole crew together in future books.
