When I—along with my best friend and his big purple monster boyfriend—come across a fortress-like raider camp while journeying across the monster-infested Wastes, we stop to deliver a message.
Somehow, that simple pit stop turns into a seemingly impossible quest to get this camp’s missing leader out of the prison where he’s being held and forced to fight monsters and other humans. And I know exactly where it is, because I’ve been there.
Problem is, I’m making this journey with the prickliest and most arrogant guy I’ve ever met, who seems to immediately hate me on sight. Oh, and he’s also half monster. So there’s that. And he’s in love with a raider who definitely does not love him back, and he seems determined to take it out on me. So there’s also that.
But I’m not going to rise to his childish insults and barbed words. I’m not.
I’m also going to try very hard to ignore how mindnumbingly beautiful he is, even when he’s scowling at me.
But the longer we’re out here together, the more I learn about my prickly half monster companion Moth. I realise there’s a reason he’s so closed off and angry. There’s a reason he hates everyone.
There are secrets he’s been keeping, and when I find out what they are, I want to do everything in my power to help him—even though he’s telling me he can’t be helped.
Review:
Characters and Plot
Another amazing book, seriously, at this point, I'm just devouring this series. Lily Mayne creates the best MC, and the fact that this is a duo point of view was a pleasant surprise, as all the previous books in the series had been single POV. Charlie was hilarious. The humor was so underappreciated in these books, but ye, this series makes me laugh out loud so many times. The sexual joke, usually, can be really cringe if it was written horribly, works really well in this book as the character just delivers them so naturally.

Moth was a fascinating character; the plot twist of where he came from truly shocked me. I love how everything is now connected, and we get even more lore as the series progresses. I really enjoy that Moth took time ot warm up to Charlie, and that they tried to learn more about each other.

I felt so bad for Moth, not gonna lie, I was shocked when I found out he was only 25 years old... Since all the previous monsters were more than 700 years old, Wyn is 10,000 years old. LIKE A NORMAL AGE GAP, AND CHARLIE IS OLDER AS WELL!!! The relationship between Moth Charlie, like all the other couples, is electric, adorable, and soft. I swear every monster is just a giant marshmallow underneath, yes, including Wyn.

Journey to find Cat was interesting... like Cat, what exactly are you up to? Poor Anchor is back in the camp carrying everything on her shoulder. Overall, can't wait to get to the next boook!
