Characters and Plot
Black Water Arc... WHY... JUST WHY???!!! Shi Qingxuan, my goat, you did not deserve that. THE PLOT TWIST??? I was questioning reality and staring at the wall when the plot twist dropped for Black Water Arc cause it was INSANE. It was laid out and developed so well, and once it clicks, it just recontextualizes everything you know, and that is the best kind of twist. I love the Shi brothers... so this Arc was traumatizing, but that is fine. I love how I understand everyone's situation in here, and that everyone had a valid reason for doing what they did, so the ending is just this painful tragedy.
Though it was jarring how we just read the most traumatizing things ever and then switch to Hualian making out a few pages later, imo, I feel the author should have let the audience sit with the heartbreak a little longer before moving to Hualian's fluff, but I'm not complaining :))
THE GHOST RUT SCENE??? Why the hell is that spicier than any explicit smut I've read, like it's not explicit but the chemistry was SO ON FIRE. Then we move to Xie Lian chasing after an evil dress, and it reveals another plot twist... atp my brain is fried from the number of plot twists in this book.
Anyway, 10/10 recommend, SO EXCITED TO READ THE NEXT BOOK, I LOVE HUALIAN, I LOVE THE PLOT, I LOVE EVERYTHING IN HERE.
