,

Xie Lian has confirmed that the bewitching youth San Lang is actually Hua Cheng, one of the Four Calamities and a supreme ghost despised by all heavenly officials. Still, he has trouble matching the terror of his companion's reputation with the charming, clever, and protective young man he's come to know.

When a distress signal leads Xie Lian into Ghost City, a bustling metropolis containing all the horrors and delights of the dead, he sees Hua Cheng in his element--and his true form--for the first time. But despite their chemistry and care for one another, there are missions to fulfill and secrets to uncover, and Xie Lian's centuries of troubled history are never far behind.

Characters and Plot

The historical lore in the first half... WAT THE FUCK??? OK so Xie Lian... How many jobs do you have, like... anyways, I am eating this up. Also, the cold line drops, "If we duel, you will die.", ok Xie Lian, I wasn't aware of your game.

Ghost City, my beloved, that whole adventure was so funny. Hua Cheng, I know what you were up to in that gambling scene. There is no perfect dice-throwing posture; you just want an excuse to touch Xie Lian. Also, Hua Cheng is the perfect host and just wants to show off his house and city to Xie Lian, so cuteeeeeee.

Lord Wind Master IS A DIVA, A GENDERFLUID ICON. I love them, so iconic, so glorious, one of the few officials that isn't mean and actually treats Xie Lian well. Then we got Xie Lian's story when he was the crown prince and hadn't ascended yet. First of all, the illustrations had me on the floor. It's a crime for that man to look that fine, also Feng Xin and Mu Qing, I LOVE THEM!!! I love how the author explore different in social class between the Xianle trio, cause as much as I love their friendship, it's very obvious that Xie Lian and Feng Xin never really understand the struggle of Mu Qing, who comes from a poor family.

The book just get better and better, and I am so ready for the next one.
