This was such a whimsical and charming book. We are following Shiori, a witty princess from Kiata who was exiled by her stepmother. Shiori now has to try to undo the curse that has fallen on her 6 brothers, turning them into cranes, and bring them all home.

I love the banter and relationship between Shiori and her six brothers; they radiate sibling love, and I love how protective her brothers are of her. Another favorite part of this book to me was Shiori's magic lesson with the dragon Seryu, as their friendship was very fun to read about. Seryu might be one of my favorite characters, and I love his banter with Shiori.

I really enjoy the romance in this book; it was VERY REFRESHING having a love interest that isn't 6ft tall and broods all the time. The love interest is just the sweetest, nerdiest, and kindest person. I love how the romance unravels. Shiori and her love interest establish their friendship first before deciding to get together; it isn't rushed, but they get time to breathe, which is very rare in today's books. The world has the best fairy tale vibe, so magical and beautiful. I cannot wait to read the sequel to this!!! 100% recommend this.
