Review

The conclusion of Mistborn Era 2 was a thrilling, epic ending. I was surprised by the huge time skip, but I think it works perfectly. Wax and Steris are adorable in this book, and so are their children; their relationship is wholesome and fun. Marasi and Wayne's friendship has to be one of the friendship I ever read about; the banter and the dynamic just flow naturally.

The stakes were STACKING in this book, and I was not expecting to get emotional at the ending, but I was... Wayne really spent this book being depressed for most of it and feeling worthless; in my opinion, this book was very much a Wayne book. I'm glad that Steris is getting her own chapters here; there aren't a lot, but the chapters that are there really highlight who Steris is and lean into her strength and highlight her insecurities and how she overcame them.

It was very fun seeing the easter egg and connection to the Cosmere world; it was very helpful reading The Emperor's Soul and Mistborn: A Secret History before going into this world. It hit so much harder, and you get a deeper understanding of the world-building and magic system. I can say the Mistborn wolrd is very much not over, and there is more to come.
