Ten women. A deadly contest. Only one can win the Sun King's heart.
Lor has endured twelve long years of torture under the Aurora King’s rule. Her only desire is to escape and pay him back for every moment of misery she's endured.
When a surprise release finds her in the hands of the rival Sun King, Lor is thrust into the spotlight as she competes against nine other Tributes for the role of queen. If she wins his heart, she'll earn her freedom and finally get her revenge.
But Lor doesn't belong in the Sun Queen Trials. Not only does she not understand why she was freed, she isn’t a citizen of the Sun King’s court. The other Tributes resent her presence and will stop at nothing to ensure Lor is removed from the competition, permanently.
Now Lor must win, because if she loses, she dies. Or worse, she'll be returned to the evil—and now vengeful—Aurora King.
Review:
Characters and Plot
I was in a reading slump so it took me longer to finish this book than usual, however, it really help. Trial of the Sun Queen is fast paced, fun and entertaining, I found the mmc really interesting, love the side characters, the plot and the vibe overall was giving Throne of Glass in the best way. I think the trials were interesting, it could have been a bit more creative in my opinion, but it was quick, fun read.

What I didn't like about this book was the pick-me energy the fmc was giving, girl could not survive without saying stuff like "unlike the other tributes" "I ate like an animal, while the other just nibble on their food"... like ok.... I get that Lor went through horror that no one should go through, but there is no need to drag the other girls down just to make herself look more sympathetic, if anything, it makes her more infuriating.

The MMC and FMC didn't interact much in this book, which is unusual compare to a lot of romantasy I read. However, I really like Nadir, it was obvious his relationship with his father is strain, but why is it was never reveal. I also found him interesting, and Nadir and Lor would make a good enemies to lovers of how Nadir is literally the son of the man that had torture Lor for 12 years.
Conclusion
Overall, this book was really fun to read, I am excited for what will happen next, hopefully it would get better.
