A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.
After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.
The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever... Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. Review:
Characters and Plot
TELLA IS SO ANNOYING!!! Seriously, this book would have been a 4 of 4.5 stars if it weren't for Tella being the MC. The way that she keeps secrets and lies to Scarlett throughout the whole book, and secrets that are vital, important, and pose a lot of danger, secrets regarding their mother??? I know that Scarlett also keeps a secret but her secret isn't that big and it's more personal to her. I didn't care about the romance between Tella and Dante, their push and pull energy just got drag out as the book goes on, and they are just getting in the way of the plot in my opinion. Like give me Scarlett and Julian, they actually had chemistry, and they way that Scarlett just get sideline in this book???

I did like the plot-line in this book, it was really gripping, there were more stakes, more world-building, I was really interest in the Deck of Destiny and the Fates. Jack the Prince of Hearts makes an appearance in this book, I know how love he is from the Once Upon a Broken Heart series, which sets after Caraval trilogy. But as of right now, I don't find him interesting, maybe that will change int he next book.

One thing that keep on bugging me was the amount of tell instead of show, the author keeps on telling us that Tella is smart, and that everyone underestimated her, while I found her to be incredibly reckless and stupid. The revealed of Legend's identity at the end was expected, it was obvious who Legend was, and I know that was the point, however, I just think it would had hit harder has it wasn't being spoil since the beginning.

Conclusion
I really hope we get more of Scarlett and Julian next book, and less of Tella, I miss them, and Tella is driving me insane with her melodramatic love life.
